I searched the immediate area but did not find it. I then telephoned the police on their non emergency number.
I gave Jim in the Crime Support Unit all the information I had which of course was not very much as we had not been disturbed during the night. I was promised that someone would attend the scene, speak to the occupier(s) of a neighbouring boat and I would be contacted by telephone. The incident no. given was NB/7714/08.
I was not telephoned and it would appear non of the other things were done either. I received a letter with a different incident no. being WB/8662/08 which says:
In this case, after careful evaluation of the initial crime report, it has been decided that there is insufficient evidence or information to prompt further investigation at this time. This decision will of course be reconsidered in the light of any further information of evidence, including the outcome of any forensic tests. Additionally I can also assure you that there is an on-going review process which could result in the enquiry being reopened. Pleased do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further information that could assist this enquiry.
There is no photo of the event. The following is included as the next best thing.
